It's not often you get to experience fresh sounding, edgy and intelligent pop music in today's music charts especially from a group barely out of their teens. Breaking the trend are 5-piece male band, The Special Ks.

The Special Ks formed whilst at music college in Brighton & quickly took the region by storm packing out local venues before heading around the UK spreading their sounds nationwide.

The Brighton based team behind the development of The Kooks spotted The Special Ks early on & booked them into a nation wide college tour where the bands appeal proved a massive hit & their following really began to build

Still selling out down south & now making waves nationwide, last year THE SPECIAL Ks went on to beat over 3000 other acts to be The "Best BreakOut band of 2009" at JMG's BreakOut Showcase at the O2 Academy in London. They went on to perform at the festival in the Maldives last December, the event & the bands performance was also broadcast on MTV and webcast by AOL giving them their first major exposure.

Since this, the band has embarked on a nationwide tour in partnership with Jar Music Live (the live division of Jar Music Group), from Leeds to Reading and beyond, covering 15 or so cities, playing prestigious venues including the infamous BEATLES launch site, the Cavern club in Liverpool. They also performed at Europe's biggest new music event IN THE CITY in Manchester under the 'Brighton Live' banner.

The Special Ks recently teamed up with brand AVON to run a competition to coincide with their UK tour which culminated in a multi prize giveaway earlier this year.
This summer the band are in the studio turning their demos into the records they have longed to create collaborating with producer Julian Simmons (The Guillemotts/Brinkman) to achieve a sound that more than competes with likes of today's chart topping international pop acts.
